Good morning 🌥️ We’re sad to announce that this will be the last issue of TLDR Weekly. We figured it was best to do this now before annual subscription renewals rolled around.

We’ve enjoyed modeling what the news can be today. When empire isn’t shy about its intentions. When the marginalized are merging to avoid entrenched mediocrity. When it’s hard to know what’s real. And when perhaps that uncertainty seems intentional, and therefore compassion is in short supply. When we have a cost-of-living crisis and a cost-of-loving crisis.

Our vision of the news is that of one that’s real, independent, unafraid to stand for what we believe to be right, and appropriately infused with levity—because humanity’s ability to laugh at itself might be the last thing the robots pry from our cold dead hands.

But it’s hard for the news to be all those things because we also want it to be free. And we tried doing it for free for a while and our platform grew exponentially, but we could barely keep the lights on. We tried making it paid, and our numbers diminished just as fast.

We have no more road left, but we hope we’ve inspired you and informed you.

Thank you for your time, your money, and your attention. Hopefully, it’s not goodbye; it’s see you later.
