Good morning đĽď¸ How old are you? Do you know what âspinning the blockâ means? If not, pause here and go check. Weâll wait.
Andrew Tulloch, a leading AI researcher, had a problem: he worked with Meta for 11 years before joining OpenAI. He then left OpenAI to co-found Thinking Machines Lab, which, after attracting $2 billion in investmentâpre-productâfinally launched their first product a few weeks ago. Andrewâs child had a child.
But Andrewâs ex (Meta) kept calling, promising to be betterâfirst offering him a payment package worth up to $1.5 billion (yes, with a âbâ).
But Andrew turned them down, ostensibly in a feat of righteous indignation and loyalty to his new relationship. But he kept fielding texts from Meta until, as it goes, he cracked. Andrew left his progeny (Thinking Machines Lab) to rejoin his ex (Meta).
And that, friend, is what spinning the block means.
