Andrew Tulloch, a leading AI researcher, had a problem: he worked with Meta for 11 years before joining OpenAI. He then left OpenAI to co-found Thinking Machines Lab, which, after attracting $2 billion in investment—pre-product—finally launched their first product a few weeks ago. Andrew’s child had a child.
But Andrew’s ex (Meta) kept calling, promising to be better—first offering him a payment package worth up to $1.5 billion (yes, with a ‘b’).
But Andrew turned them down, ostensibly in a feat of righteous indignation and loyalty to his new relationship. But he kept fielding texts from Meta until, as it goes, he cracked. Andrew left his progeny (Thinking Machines Lab) to rejoin his ex (Meta).
