Andrew Tulloch, a leading AI researcher, had a problem: he worked with Meta for 11 years before joining OpenAI. He then left OpenAI to co-found Thinking Machines Lab, which, after attracting $2 billion in investmentāpre-productāfinally launched their first product a few weeks ago. Andrewās child had a child.
But Andrewās ex (Meta) kept calling, promising to be betterāfirst offering him a payment package worth up to $1.5 billion (yes, with a ābā).
But Andrew turned them down, ostensibly in a feat of righteous indignation and loyalty to his new relationship. But he kept fielding texts from Meta until, as it goes, he cracked. Andrew left his progeny (Thinking Machines Lab) to rejoin his ex (Meta).
And that, friend, is what spinning the block means.
